If one of those links has even a grain of truth, you maybe do good yourself by staying in India and prospering at home. But then again, the allure of West, coupled with the prestige that goes with it in India may give you a million sleepless nights.... so you are in some odd dilemma here. Apparently, there are thousands of medical grads from the 3rd world that seem to enjoy life here driving taxis in the metropolitan areas for a living. The situation definitely warrants a thorough investigation before plunging yourself into it.
I thought foreign trained doctors doing odd jobs was in the olden days. Now they have relaxed the rules. I could be wrong.
I am talking about someone very young and will complete her studies very shortly.
Well, the overall impression about 3rd world trained doctors was a hearsay to me. I did personally meet and still know one ophthalmologist from Bolivia who has published in the American medical journals (I have seen and read his papers) is now working as an assistant to a Canada-trained eye doc. The rules won't allow him to get licensed unless he repeated a bulk of course work and testing. I was puzzled by his bragging that he was one of the lead eye-surgeons in his country but here he just hands the tools to his Canadian eye surgeons (more like a nurse on hand!), but I did not ask him why he left his job. I did ask him if he enjoyed his work in Canada and he was readily affirmative about it! He still works, though now in Toronto. Helping the eye surgeons do their work. There are many kinds of madness in this world. I would think the man is just out of his mind. Sometimes, you might enjoy the life of a pauper even if you had to disguise like one! I am also aware that Indians are particularly boastful to their colleagues and neighbors about their sons and daughters living and enjoying life in the West. So you do see great numbers of Indians with varied academic training languishing on the streets of Canada.

This is a comprehensive website which will provide you the information required for an International Medical Graduate to get lincesed in Ontario for practice. I personally know 10+ doctors from India / Pakistan who have been able to get into residency here in Ontario in last 4 - 5 years. Do not get Disheartened by the negativity. If you are a bright and capable professional, you will get into the system here.
