I teach music and art in my home. I'm an American citizen, and I guess I'm buying a house in Ontario Province, and I will be teaching in my home. Does the Canadian government have any restrictions on me doing that? I suppose I need to talk to a Canadian accountant.
Any Canadian accountants on this blog??

As I can do anything legal to earn living, can I hang a signboard on my property or need a permission. City may object for using house for commercial purposes.

For townhomes and condos, I know for sure that some townhouse and condo corporations normally restrict the use of household premise for any commercial uses and to hang any sign except the sign to sell or lease the premise. However, I have seen many freehold residential properties in the Greater Toronto Area being wholly or partially used for businesses like day cares, cosmetology, physiotherapy, law practice, Real Estate practice, Financial consultancy, accounting, dental practice etc. I don't know if they have any specific permission from the city or they are operating illegally but I have seen them operating for years. May be a lawyer, an experienced realtor or an accountant can shed some more light on this aspect.
I am waiting to hear from someone before hanging my sign to attract 'Customers'. Hope to hear soon!
