TK: There is a major flaw in your analogy.
1) You are comparing Hindu/Christian Sri-Lankan refugees with Islamic refugees. France and many other African countries took in Islamic refugees decades ago and are now reaping the consequences.
It is for this very reason, Kingdom of Saud and other Arabic nations are sternly turning away Syrian refugees. what do they know that we don't?
R.
Officially, Syrians can apply for a tourist visa or work permit in order to enter a Gulf state.
But the process is costly, and there is a widespread perception that many Gulf states have unwritten restrictions in place that make it hard for Syrians to be granted a visa in practice.

Revenge can be bitter sweet, but if u sit back and watch, KARMA can be pure entertainment.
Actually this refugee crisis can snowball into a major issue for everyone.
The solution is to put a swift and quick end to this menace ISIS as well as Assad issue.
I acknowledge and respect the role played by countries such as US , Canada and others ...
A US think tank feels that the entry of Russia will be a game changer in the Middle East violent crisis.
All said and done there are a few takers for Islamic refugees for obvious reasons.... but these may be the people who are victim of Islamic extremism.

I think Canadian economy is not in a position to accept this surge of refugees. It will be a better approach to provide whatever feasible support to rehabilitate the Syrian refugees to their neighboring countries with the help of other international organizations.
agreed +1,
IMO, Canada is not at the position to take extra burden base on Humanitarian.
we all know that Canada is most popular country for refugees but always apply to everyone:
"Pahle apne Ghar ka Bhala karo Baad mai duniya ka Bhala karne jao"
What Govt. of Canada wants to saw the world that Canada is a very rich country and ready to take any kind of burden base on Humanitarian.
apart from post, Just received notice from Mississauga City that If you own a property in Mississauga, a new storm water charge will appear on your Region of Peel water bill beginning in 2016.
Govt. is ready to take refugees in to Canada but taking forever to clear sponsorship files. So many peoples are still waiting for reunion with family members, parents, wife, kids, etc...
RBO ~ While what you say is entirely true , but pray please tell me would your response have been the same had it been a similar calamity in India ? ... Just think .
See below and be ready for more burden on your pocket.....
Summary of Commitments for Syrian and Iraqi Refugees to date Syrians Iraqis

Since 2009, Canada has permanently resettled nearly 25,000 Iraqi and Syrian refugees. That is more than most other countries.
*In July 2013, Canada agreed to permanently resettle 1,300 Syrian refugees. Canada met this initial commitment in March 2015.
In January 2015, Canada expanded its commitment by resettling an additional 10,000 Syrians, which will now be met, by September 2016.
Canada’s Refugee Resettlement Commitments around the world around the world about 100,000 refugees are resettled each year. Of that, Canada resettles approximately 11,000 to 13,000. This means that Canada resettles on average one out of every 10 refugees globally through its government-assisted and privately sponsored refugee programs.

Being helped as a refugee should not carry the end prize of citizenship, the help and asylum should be a temporary situation until the situation is sorted and problems are resolved.
There are probably tens of thousands of IS fighters who have gotten into Germany alone amongst the illegal refugee flood. We are asking for trouble if, we take refugees without proper security check. We have to keep emotions at check during this major humanity crises. Again, my heart goes out to small children who are suffering due to ISIS. This has to end fast.
We sincerely hope that, Russia and USA will not fight power war and do whatever is best. USA want Assad out of power and Russia is supporting Assad to eliminate ISIS. I wonder why USA thinks Assad is a dictator/killer? USA wants democracy everywhere but democracy doesn't work in Muslim countries. If there is free election in Syria, the President elected will be Sunny Muslim.

German Chancellor Mrs. Merkel opened up the border with great fanfare and pomp. Now ordinary Germans are facing severe consequences. Read the below first hand report to see how the "Refugees" are harassing woman and children.
