Canadian economy is already in bad shape. No jobs are available easily, everyday more and more money grabbing rules are coming and now more refugees to exploit our tax money.
Sources say the Ontario government needs Ottawa to expedite the arrival of the refugees while helping to ensure security is kept tight enough so that no terrorists slip into the country.
Ontario will spend $10.5 million to open the province’s doors to 10,000 Syrian refugees.
Is it really worth it to bring more refugees to Canada?
This is a complex scenario ...
While there s no q that they are not terrorists , the main q as highlighted by OP is ~ whether it will be a drain on an already under pressure economy and that is an International q as it is an International problem.
Germany has already imposed decades before border control and that has had a domino effect ..Hungary has closed doors now for migrant .
Canada has and should pledge money towards the crisis as this is an International issue now.UN , IMF or other Agencies should come together and form a road map for their rehabilitation .
While it will certainly be a drain on the economy but Canada has had a long term standing reputation of refugee aiding country esp in humanitarian basis.

I think Canadian economy is not in a position to accept this surge of refugees. It will be a better approach to provide whatever feasible support to rehabilitate the Syrian refugees to their neighboring countries with the help of other international organizations.

IMO, Canada is not at the position to take extra burden base on Humanitarian.
we all know that Canada is most popular country for refugees but always apply to everyone:
"Pahle apne Ghar ka Bhala karo Baad mai duniya ka Bhala karne jao"
What Govt. of Canada wants to saw the world that Canada is a very rich country and ready to take any kind of burden base on Humanitarian.
apart from post, Just received notice from Mississauga City that If you own a property in Mississauga, a new storm water charge will appear on your Region of Peel water bill beginning in 2016.
Govt. is ready to take refugees in to Canada but taking forever to clear sponsorship files. So many peoples are still waiting for reunion with family members, parents, wife, kids, etc...
Let's take a practical look at this offer to bring in refugees.
1) When Refugees are transported and hosted in a country, the politicians get the Votes whereas
YOU and ME pay for all their costs. Healthcare, transport, food and well being!!. are you Ok with that?
2) Many of the refugees are from the most violent region of the world, military age males, with zero background checks. who takes responsibility if they commit acts of violence and crime in the country?
3) There is a popular saying in France based on their past experience of hosting Algerian refugees.
Today Refugee. Tomorrow 'Jihadi John'.
