Powar is a spin bowler who has done fairly well in ODIs. He was used as a replacement for Bhajji. As u saw, when Bhajji returned, Powar had to sit out. When there are zonal selectors (5 of them), parochialism is bound to occur. Badrinath is a good player no doubt. More with bat than the ball. IMO, we have enough players who can bat well.
Yes, we have tough competition in Batting while even after bowling so well, RP might just will have to sit out on return of Zaheer as Pathan is certain in ODIs and Captain won't like 3 Left arm Seamers.

I did notice a few cars flying the Indian flag in Brampton on that day
