From the messages posted in the forum it seems that the CHCs (particularly New Delhi) retain the passports for unduly long time !

Passport is a very important, valuable and personnel document which is normally returned by any embassy within a few weeks.

They should ask for it only at the last stage when everything else is finalised.

Any idea why they are not able to do that and keep it with them for months ?

Is there anything an applicant can do to ensure their speedy return ?
