Dear CD's,
Someone suggested me to move Calgary to get GOOD HIGH PAYING job in Canada. Anyone have any idea of Calgary i.e. where to move, which place is good for temp. staying. I'm in IT field (Computer Networking). What's the living cost there as compare to Toronto.

Dear gangwark,
There are some good branches of the Toronto Libraries that carry Calgary newspapers which will provide you with job related materials and accomodation availability with the current asking rent and all the required details that you are looking for.
A trip and a talk with the librarian will give a lot of insight into the current job market which will put you closer to a city that you want to go to and the other details that you are seeking.
To avoid the disappointment, use the telephone system to see if such News papers' availability and the associated help at that location prior to the visit.
There were a lot of postings about Alberta and Calgary here on CD in the Charcha section posted prior to this. But the materials might not reflect the current market conditions in jobs and rentals. But do use it to the best.

Most newspapers have websites now. Visit http://www.calgaryherald.com" rel="nofollow">LINK and search for jobs. Also search for government websites and search for Alberta jobs. It is not necessary though that you will get a better job. Also do some research on what are the companies in Alberta and visit their websites. Most companies now have career opportunities posted on websites. Try finding out contacts living in Alberta and talk to them. They might be able to refer you. Also search for jobs in Edmonton and Fort McMurray
Rentals would be anywhere between $700 to $1500 depending on location.

I will say if you from Technical/ engg background, its worth
But still you should be ready to struggle initially & don't expect nice paying job from day one
As said earlier, its difficult to get enough info abt Job, rental & other things in Toronto. Very few Library carry this.
So better is come to Alberta & try
