Hi Guys ,

I have to get the renovation done in the bathroom .

I am talking to people and the supdt in my Condo says plaster is the best and other people i have talked to are telling me that everybody does dry wall and dry wall is the best .

1) I am kind of confused here in deciding what is the best for the long term.
2) and what are the Pros and Cons of both Dry Wall and plaster .

It's more than 20 yrs old bldg .

Also the supdt and others in my condo are quoting huge price ( almost double than the others ) and I am sure he knows his job and is a reliable person for sure as these guys have been working in the bldg for a long time.
on the other hand the price diff is too much .

the other people who are quoting less I want to go with them but then the reliability of their workmanship bothers me ( even though I can ask for references etc but if something goes wrong I'll be running around to get them to fix it ) .

looking forward to the comments suggestions .

Regards

If doing drywall (which I highly recommend) make sure it is drywall meant for the bathroom which is more moisture resistant otherwise you will have mould issues. It is usually green in colour or you can use concrete backer board but that is harder to work with. Green drywall is most common.

Are you only renovating the walls? Or fixtures/floors etc as well? If just doing walls it shouldn't be too pricey or difficult to do.

Thanks Vimal .

I am just planning to do the walls and may be change the Faucet etc .
No floors at this point .

May be I should change the Toilets as well ( as I believe there are newer ones which consume less water )

Do I have to bring the Dry wall or the person fixing it will bring it ?

Yes there are Lo-flo toilets which use quite a bit less water. Home Depot/Rona/Lowe's carry a wide range of them. Also there may be a city rebate as well depending on where you live.

Usually the contractor will bring the drywall. You can by the toilet yourself and have him install it for you.
