Hi
I would like one clarification please.
If I apply for one course of study, get my visa and reach there, can I immediately change my course to another in the same college, provided I can convince the college admissions authorities....and provided I pay the necessary fees etc. Would they again ask the Visa office or something?
I would welcome suggestions from people who have done this and understand the process...
Thanks

Thanks Freddie for the link...somehow couldnt locate it..
According to the new rules, a student for a 1 yr course gets a 1 yr work permit after the completion of the course, but for a 2 yr course, an open work permit of upto 3 yrs is now to be given....And offcampus work permit during studies is also to be started..same 20 hrs per week...but all this for particular institutions and courses...
My problem is that I am getting admission to a 1 yr course, which I shall take and hopefully go there and try to convince the same college for another of their courses that I am keen on, but which is of 2 yrs duration...So then what should I do...coz I would have got the visa for only 1 yr ...right?
Thanks

Hi Freddie
I am sorry I havent been able to explain my case very well. Sorry to take up ur time again, but my question was like this...
1. I am interested in course A lets say of 2 yrs duration. Its not directly my field of experience till now, but can be linked creatively and logically by an openminded person! And its something which I have been passionate about...
2. The college admissions officer explained that even though he could give the admission offer letter for course A, he was skeptical whether the High Commission would understand and accept the indirect link to my own field and he said most probably they would reject my visa.
3. Then he suggested course B, which is of 1 yr duration, and linked to my field.
4. I shall be getting the offer letter for course B soon, and am sure of getting the visa.
5. So now my plan is to reach there, convince the college that I am actually interested in course A, so would they please let me in for that right from NOW instead of course B (not after 1 yr as you have grasped)....its like switch the courses...
In short, I need a 2 yr student visa for course A but will land there with a 1 yr visa for course B. How the heck do I solve that...
Hi binsha,
There are vocational guidance councilors, who can help you with a letter permitting you to take the two year course, linking it with the previous schooling (Education).
You can try and see if you can swing it after you land here.
Other wise, you have provided yourself with all of the answers and your chances as I can see, are, 50/50, if you try prior to the approval from CIC.
So, settle for the one that you are coming here for and see where it will take you. You never know till you try your luck. Also keep in touch with the person who said that he could give you an entry into "A". He is your best help in this. See what he says, when you ask him if you can change it after landing in Canada for course "B". See his logic and how he links it with your education.
Good Luck.
Freddie.
Please contact these people there in India, if you have time. {ciip.accc.ca}
