Hi CDs,
I am new to Toronto. I have previous work experiences in the IT field. Now I want to change to Accounting/Auditing.
I have sent scores of applications so far nothing clicked. I have spoken to a few recruiters, they say it is going to be very hard for me to keep my foot into the door. It is difficult for freshers to get a call from employers as majority of them look for experience in the related field. I am still hoping that something will click.
Any suggestions, advice from you CDs? Hoping to hear some suggestions.
Career change can be tricky.
Do you have a background in Accounting? degree or even a few courses? Any volunteer work history etc?
I suggest scouring through job ads for Junior Accounting positions and read up on the requirements. You will begin to see a common theme. Perhaps sign up for a certificate or diploma in Accounting program or take a few accounting courses.
There are many jobs in the Accounting field, but IT is a bit unrelated.
My husband did the same thing from IT to Accounting. He had a BComm. from India though.

Hi,
I have changed my career in Accounting and perused Diploma, now looking for entry level job, everywhere they ask for 2-3 years Canadian experience, so I join practice firm to get some accounting experience. If any CD's come across to any accounting job, please inform me. Thank you!
I am a Commerce graduate from India. Well, I came across the concept of Practice Firm. Can anyone explain how to enter a Practice Firm?
What are the possible courses & from which college/institutions as I am a new immigrant?
Thanks in advance.
