We watched Felon over the weekend, a gritty prison movie about a guy caught up in the tangles of prison life who's just trying to do his time and get out...a great movie.
We also watched Rambo III - saw it a very long time ago but boy, does it ever make you wonder how the tables have turned on the US!!!

I recently watched the French action classic "Léon - The Professional" and was blown away by its slickness and stylish action sequences. "Natalie Portman" stars as twelve-year-old "Mathilda" seeking revenge for the murder of her four-year-old brother by working with a professional hit man. This movie happens to be Natalie's first movie and her acting is way too matured than many grown ups.
I came to know that "Bichhoo" was a remake of this movie where the little girl's character was changed to a grown up (played by "Rani Mukerji" ), so as to provide scope for song and dance sequences
Yeah, I saw this too about 10 years back I hope. Jean Reno played an excellent role... quite an action packed one, didn't know it was a french one.

The weak died on the way,
Only the strong arrived.

I recently had the opportunity to watch Sergio Leone's 1984 classic "Once Upon a Time in America" starring Robert De Niro. For those who don't know Sergio Leone, he's the highly acclaimed director of spaghetti western films and had directed the "Once Upon a Time Trilogy" and "The Dollars Trilogy" series.
FYI - The Dollars Trilogy comprises of Client Eastwood movies "A Fistful of Dollars", "For a Few Dollars More", "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" and the Once Upon a Time Trilogy comprises of the movies "Once Upon a Time in the West ","Once Upon a Time - the Revolution (A.K.A) A Fistful of dynamite”,” Once Upon a Time in America"
The final footage of "Once Upon a Time in America" was originally 8-10 hours long and Sergio had planned to release it as two movies. But due to the protests from producers, the movie was heavily edited and the running time was brought down to 3.5 hours. The film follows the lives of 4 gang members in their childhood, youth and old age. The childhood scenes were set during the 1920's, the youth scenes were set during the 1930’s and the old age scenes were set in the late 1960's. I can't help myself comparing this movie to other crime thrillers such as "The Good Fellas", "The Untouchables", "Casino", though the level of profanity, sex and violence depicted in "Once Upon a Time in America" is phenomenal compared to other movies.
The scenes set during the 20's and 30's paint a realistic picture of the great depression, opium dens, prohibition, prostitution, bootlegging, lawlessness and corruption prevalent during that era. I also found out the Indian movie "Nayakan" directed by "Mani Ratnam" has a scene lifted from this movie, where in salt bags were used to immerse illegal stuff into the sea so as to make it float once the salt dissolves in water.
Blame it on heavy editing, I felt incomplete at the end of the movie cuz it ends abruptly. I am looking forward for the director's cut version of the movie so as to fill in the gaps in narration.
If you're into slow paced crime movies such as "Godfather" then "Once Upon a Time in America" is worth a watch (Not with family though )
Yeah saw Once upon a time in America- darn cool. saw it with my wife -she's family, so don't really understand ur comment unless u mean under age children.
Like you had to explain about 'the man with no name', holy....
though he does have a name.
