I am planning to visit US for less than 12 hours. Can someone tell me what is limit on gift (number and dollar) which I can bring back to Canada? Can I bring home decor items to Canada as gift?

It's $50 per person for a stay of 24 hrs or more. If you are returning the same day, your limit is $0.

What about gift if I spend less than 24 hours in US? $50 is for personal exemption for more than 24 hours. They allow $60 gift from US but I am not sure does it apply to less than 24 hour visit or not and how many gift can I bring for less than 24 hours stay?
