Nice presentation of the new browser launched by Google today.
http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/" target="_blank">http://www.google.com/googlebooks/chrome/</a>
List of some good basic features are
- Omnibox - Url box which list down the websites you previously visited by typing related words. Unlike Internet Explorer which does so by only typing the website url correctly
- Home page - shows a thumbnails of the 9 webpages which you mostly visit. So that you can go straight to that webpage by just clicking on it. Unlike Internet Explorer where you have to click on the url box & select the previous written website url or have to click your previously book mark pages by going into the favourites.
- Incognito - privacy mode - you can make a specific tab READ ONLY out of all the open tabs & no cookies or History or form data from that tab would be recorded on your PC. It gets deleted automatically as soon as you close that tab. Unlike Internet Explorer 7 which has the tab facility but the privacy setting is common.
definitely worth a try......

I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible.
But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that its at least as good as firefox w.r.t w3c.
As a developer it just adds another browser that has to be coded for.
Just when I thought the nightmare that was IE 6 is on its death bed...along comes another browser...for better or worse...we will know soon.

The only thing I am missing right now is the mouse gesture feature in IE7 which comes with an add-on called IE7Pro wherein you can install different advanced plug-ins for IE7. I am so used to those mouse gestures while on internet for going Back to previous page or to close the tab or to go to the another tab by just moving the mouse.
Hope google guys might incorporate something like that in their first official version of Chrome

Good stuff...have been running some tests. None of the sites I do for clients are broken on chrome. On xp there are some minor glitches/refresh issues. On vista it runs like a champ.
It seems to be as good as firefox 3.0 in my tests...on both xp and vista. And its only beta.
On all sites I control- IE (6/7) accounts for 75% of traffic...followed by firefox. Then come the safaris operas etc. This is probably the same for most sites including CD (BL/GG?)
Will be interesting to see how Chrome plays out in the market. I'm guessing it will probably overtake firefox pretty soon if only because of the easy access. If there are no major bugs/security issues that is.
