Dear all,
My mother in law is here on a single entry visitors VISA and we thought of going to US for 3/4 days. I know that its difficult to go to US, if the person has a single entry permit. But just recently I heard from someone that, you can still try as single entry restriction does not apply to US visit.
Can anyone help me to understand? I can apply for a date to attend the US VISA interview if any one of you has done it or know about it.
Regards,
VJ.
Entry in and out of Canada to USA and vise versa is not considered in single entry.
For eg if you have a single entry visa of Canada and go to the USA you can come back to canada within the validity of the visa you were granted to come to Canada. Same applies if you have a single entry visa to USA and wanted to visit canada.
I have had relatives who had single entry visa to US and then came to US got a single entry visa to come visit me in Canada and then returned to India after reentring the US.
The point is clear in the US and Canadian VISA websites
The following is what the Canadian VISA site states.
A single-entry visa allows you to enter Canada once.
When you arrive at the point of entry in Canada, an officer of the Canada Border Services Agency will make sure you meet the requirements to enter Canada. The officer will tell you how long you can stay in Canada. Six months is the longest period of time you can stay in Canada under a single-entry Temporary Resident Visa.
The expiry date—the date by which you must leave Canada—will be stamped in your passport. If you have a study permit or a work permit, the same expiry date will be stamped on the permit as well.
If you leave Canada before the expiry date on your single-entry visa, you must get a new visa to re-enter Canada.
There are two exceptions: you can visit the United States or Saint-Pierre et Miquelon and return to Canada without getting a new visa, as long as you:
return within the initial period authorized by the immigration officer or
have a valid visitor record, work permit, study permit, or a temporary resident permit (authorizing re-entry) and return within the initial period authorized by the officer.
Trust this helps

You can try for US Visa but it is almost impossible for getting a visa fron Canada for Indian Visitors. They grant only to PR/Work Permits holders etc.
