Hey everyone,I need some help regarding my son's visiting visa to india.
We have been planning to go to india this december and applied for 6 months visitor visa for my son in july.we got it and it expires in jan/09 lastweek.
But now my travel plans have changed to January. If I go,my son's visa will expire in the middle of vacation.
I don't know if I can apply for extension before it expires.I checked indian consulate website but don't see anything regarding.
I tried calling them, but they never pick up or always not avail.
Please help
Thanks Very much,
Priya Varma
Hi Priya!
When you talk of your son's visa expiring in the last week of January 2009, I presume you are looking at the visa that has been stamped on his passport.
The dates on the stamp indicate that the visitor must enter the country before the expiry date . If your son enters India before the expiry date mentioned, he is eligible to stay for 6 months from the date he entres India, unless the immigration officer writes a specific earlier date under the entry stamp.
Best wishes
