In the citizenship ceremony the dress code is business attire. Do we need to wear a jacket and tie or would a formal dress shirt and pant suffice. And what about kids? Do they also need to be dressed in formals?
Hi,
There is no such dress code for this ceremony, you may opt to wear a Jacket, tie if you prefer, but you can also be dressed in your regular clothes including Jeans, same applies to kids. Hope this helps

Have learnt one lesson in life - when not sure, it is better to be overdressed than to be underdressed! Precaution reduces embarrasment.

I had dressed up formally for the occasion - to keep in line with the dignity of the ceremony
However strictly IMHO, I believe that your dress code for the ceremony reflect how much you weigh your citizenship. If it is something that you worked hard for or cherish, you would dress up your best. If Canadian citizenship is just a path to job in US or for easy access to Canada or other parts of world, you wouldn't care about your appearance

that would apply to anything in life - not only citizenship ceremony - isn't it? (Job, wedding party, housewarming, festivals, interviews, etc. etc. etc.)
