if you are in labor work then there might be less problem but if you are in high tech job french will be required as initial stage ( at least functional )

I am in IT field, currently I m in NY, USA, I just got my PR and going to land Toronto very soon. I m getting offers from Montreal. As my friend told me this about french. So I just posted. As I read above replies, I dont think I shud go directly to Montreal. I dont know the french language. not a single word. My son will get a more difficulty if we go there. So I think, for me It is not a good idea to loog job in around montreal.
