Hello, my friend is moving out and he wants to sell his used furniture and other household items. Posting ads or having a garage sale are not good options for him because he hardly has any time.

Are there any shops in Toronto where he can sell (not donate) used furniture/items?

Thanks for your help.

Posting ads on the Internet will take far less time than going from shop to shop and selling his furniture (if that's even possible).
You will usually get a lot of responses from busy websites.
The additional benefit is that the buyer will take away your furniture, whereas, if you sell it to a shop, you will have to carry your stuff there.
A few years ago, I was moving and had posted ads on websites like Sulekha and got many responses within a few hrs.

For best responses , try Craigslist / Kijiji .... even if some used furniture shops are ready to buy and pick up also they would pay you a pittance .... and you might feel better to donate to Salvatioin Army .......

You can fix conveneint time with prospective buyers and they will pick up the furniture from your place ... What s left over towards the end advertise it for free and it will be gone in 1 day .

Thank you for your suggestions. I will ask him to try Sulekha/Craiglist etc.
I just heard about cash converters store. They don't give cash. They give only credit which can be redeemed in their store only by any purchase. I guess even that should be fine.

Anyone had any experience with that store?

I would strongly suggest you to go for 'Craigslist', as it is browsed heavily by everyone. Make sure to get your friend to post pictures of the furniture alongwith the ads.

Good luck.
