Hi all.
I am in process of giving my IELTS shortly. Can anyone help me to work out the total project cost from now to landing in canada. I am a salaried guy in India and wish to see whether everything would go positive from now or not. I have made my budget as per my judgments, please correct it if you find wrong somewhere,
(everything is in rupees)
VISA FEES for my wife - 15000 (mine is alreday paid)
Right of landing fees - 60000 (for me and my wife)
Medicals - 20000 (for me and my wife)
Air Fare - 75000 (for me and my wife)
Settlement funds - 300000
Is this ok?, any other expenses in your mind and experience?
Please help me..
VJ..
Settlement funds are a bit low, only Rs 3,00,000, that is not even $10,000. If you land with your wife, you need to show $11,775 as settlement funds.
It is better to land in Summer. Winter months are too slow to find any job. It is not without reason that Canada government ask you to land here with money because finding a job here is tough!
By the way, what is your nature of work "salaried guy"?
You will probably also go in for some shopping before landing here like may be bags, clothes, etc.

DEar Raj,
Thanks for your reply, I was not knowing that the settlement fund requirement has gone up to 11775 $, thanks for such a vital input.
I am a salaried guy with over 12 years of Sales/Mktg. experience in various industries like IT, POwer conditioning & financial services (Mainly Insurance). I am a diploma - Mech engineer, my wife is a banker, who is a graduate.
Yes you are right, we would shop a bit for all those utility items, do you want something?...do not hesitate.
What r u doing in canada?..since how long u r there?...how has been your experience so far?
Regards
Here is the chart for proof of funds
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/skilled/qual-4.html
Number of family members funds
1 $9,420
2 $11,775
It has gone up? I do not think so!
From my experience all I can say is job scenario is very tough here. Marketing jobs that I have seen here are 100% commission based with no base salary.
Indian degrees and experience may not count here.
Make up your mind and be prepared. It is not a land of milk and honey!
It is only my experience. I am not discouraging anyone.
Things can go very positive too but who can predict?
Are u also planning to land in/around Toronto?

Dear Raj,
Yes you are right, "Its not a land of milk and honey", But I have been following BHAGVAD GEETA's KARMA SIDHHANT (hey i am not a religious person), KARMA KARNA HAI FAL KI CHINTA NAHI KARNI HAI.
I fought in the world of MBAs when I started working and now they are working under me. With full respect to people who are MBA and to the great MBA degree, what I am trying to say is with practical efforts, one can slowly overcome his own limitations.
But following you, I am also coming to canada with positive attitude but with the knowledge of the worst. Yes, I would be landing in totonto first, abhi to der hai.
I am gonna appear for my IELTS in April. You have written about your experience, SInce how long you are there?, Have you got a job now?...Are you able to save anything?
Can you tell me how is the insurance market over there?
Regards,
VJ
That's the spirit, buddy. I think you've nailed the secret.
It is a tough country to settle in, but there are hundreds who do it everyday. With that kind of attitude, I'm sure you will too.
Good luck!
