Hi all,
I was asked to appear for the Citizenship Oath ceremony yesterday at 9AM. I missed it -- I feel terribly bad. I got really very sick with high fever. I called CIC later yesterday and they told me to fax a letter with explanation to the Windsor CIC office fax number -- I am going to do so today or tomorrow.
I went to CIC website and somewhere they mentioned that they would close the application if I fail to appear for the Citizenship Oath ceremony.
I feel very hopeless. Could anyone let me know if you know of anyone who missed the Citizenship Oath ceremony and what I could expect next..Thank you.
Sunanda
They gave me second chance.

Thank you for the reply, good to know that they gave another chance.
I am going to send a fax to CIC by tomorrow explaining the reason. I am going to say the truth -- I had high fever, was very weak. Not sure if this would convince them -- or what else to write!!
How long did it take for CIC to give you the second Oath date (after the first one)? Also did you check the citizenship application status online? Did it update its information with the 2nd Oath date?
I wrote Citizenship test on November 5th, 08 and the Oath date was Dec 15th, 08 -- both at Windsor, On.
Thank you for your help.

They sent me a 2nd Citizenship Oath Ceremony notice, which was about 30 days apart from the previous missed ceremony date.
The new date was reflected in the online status page. But somehow I did not get the Oath Ceremony notice mail the 2nd time. I called CIC and they said no problem and I could certainly attend the Oath Ceremony without the mail notice. I faced no issues at the Oath Ceremony for not having the mail.
So if you do not get the mail from CIC for the Citizenship test or the Oath Ceremony -- nothing to panic. Check your online application status page often. Once you know the date, call CIC to know the venue (in case you do not know).
Hi,
what are the documents one needs to take to oath ceremony?.
Thx
You need to take the same documents you took for citizenship test: two IDs (drivers license, Health card), Invitation letter (if you got), PR card, landing document and passport(s). They will take your PR card. They, however, did not ask for my passport on the day of oath.
Hi sunanda.....just wanted to know that did u submit doc certificate with letter of explanation......I missed my oath ceremony due to high fever......
