Dear Friends,
I need an advice, i am planning to move to India in near future. I am Canadian citizen and would like to start immigration consultancy in India. I am aware that in order to start a career as immigration consultant it would be better to be a member of ICCRC.
My questions:
1) Is it necessary to be a member of ICCRC to start the consultancy ?
2) Any financial aid to do the Immigration consultant program ?
3) How to start the immigration consultancy ?
4) How to get the college and university contacts for admissions ?
5) More to come :)
Please advice ..
Goud

Since you just want 'an advice', I will just answer ONLY ONE.

If you want to learn about the process of Immigration, what the rules are, and the Refugee Act etc., etc., there are Colleges that will provide you with an education and also issue to you a certificate to go with it. That should provide you with the knowledge base.

But if you want to be a (Member) part of the group that is called ICCRC, then, you have to pay a fee to them Each and every year and keep up the registration with them as per their requirements. OR join me and a few of the others who think that they know a lot, and come to this website and post a few responses to the prospective Immigrants and make them feel Happy.(or sad) . The darndest thing is I remember what ever the hell I see in print from the CIC website and it gets stuck somewhere in my head and leaves an imprint like a monster tire in the wet mud. No need to recall, it is there to see. I will also provide you with all of the details here. That will make you happy too.

1) AND Today you cannot practice as a Consultant with out being a member of that GROUP. Which is ICCRC.

When I was too little to remember, after passing the 'Milk Phase', my Mom used to put me on her lap and fed me soft food from a bowl. Later on with a spoon. (Bless her soul) It was then called spoon feeding. I had no clue which was the bowl, which was the food nor what a spoon was...

Mmmmm Where the hell am I going with this..

Long time ago, I lived in a small town. Yes you can all it a One Horse Town. There were only a few CARS there, then. I used to see my neighbor, stick his gear shift in NEUTRAL, (NO PARK in those cars,) pull out a long steel bar from under his seat, go to the front of the car, stick it through the BUMPER and spin it a few times and get his car started. That was a feat and a ritual. Then he sat in the drivers seat and took off. What a sight to see. That was the hand cranking days. But don't forget he did it all by himself.

In the current days, don't expect to get spoon fed nor look for help with a long list of questions and then say "More to come". I know you are capable of doing your own search and getting your own answers to them. Yet I come back here and post a nice response to you.

My ears are still burning from the blast that I got from the 'foul mouth', which makes me wonder.. I kicked myself in my head, and Did I do that??!! Yes.

2) None that I Know about. But you can surely get a Loan.

3) Once you get a certificate from that College, frame it and "Hang a Shingle".
That should get you going.

4) Here they are...: Now you got the first set of answers.

PLUS SOME MORE :

The current ICCRC membership dues are $1,782.50 (plus applicable tax) in addition to approximately $150.00 (plus applicable tax) for professional errors and omissions insurance.

English Language Requirements for Immigration Consultant Certificate
Starting in September 2010 all new registrants in the Immigration Consultant Certificate (ICC) will be required to take Humber’s English Placement Test (EPT), arranged through The Business School. The results of the EPT will determine if applicants will be placed in an ESL/COMM 300,ESL/COMM 200 or an ESL/COMM 100 level course. Students are required to pass ESL/COMM 300 to graduate from the Immigration Consultant Certificate Program.

How the Language Requirement works:
Students must ensure the results of the EPT are provided to the Continuing Education Department of the Business School (see contact information below). If the test results place a student at an ESL150/COMM 100 level, the student will NOT be granted admission to the Immigration Consultant Certificate. A student MUST first pass the ESL 150/COMM 100 course to be granted admission to the program.
Students placed in ESL/COMM 200 will have to complete ESL/COMM 200 and ESL/COMM 300. Students placed in ESL/COMM 300 will only have to complete ESL/COMM 300. Exemptions toESL/COMM 300 will be granted ONLY to students that have completed an equivalent course in a Recognized Canadian Post Secondary Institution.
Please be advised that ESL/COMM 300 is a pre-requisite for the following courses: BICC 402 (Business Planning for Immigration), and BICC 404 (Immigration and Refugee Law Procedures). Students, therefore, cannot take BICC 402 or BICC 404 until ESL/COMM 300 has been successfully completed.

To arrange for your English Placement Test (EPT) for the Immigration Consultant certificate, please get a student number by calling Registration at 416-675-5005. Then send your student number and your choice of test dates to
