I am in a similar predicament. I am curious about Freddie's response that if the spouse claims it was a marriage of convenience and if the sponsored person has left that the law will deport him.........can you please elaborate on this Freddie?

If i get divorce it is compulsory to inform Cic .
Are there glitches and gremlins on this web site that bring archived threads back to the fore front? How did this appear from no where!!
Any way the answer is, when some one sponsors another individual, they commit themselves for a certain duration of time to support the sponsored individual, as long as they stay here in Canada.
The 'sponsor(er)' has an OBLIGATION and the Sponsored has a RIGHT.
It is nice to inform the CIC so that they also know that the duration of support for the sponsored is only for the agreed upon time period, if a claim is made. There are other implications of this support, which will be too much to discuss unless it arises.
Freddie.

You are a PR in Canada. As long as you maintain the conditions necessary to keep your PR , you are fine.
Regarding Sponsorship ... you can become a pain to her because she sponsored you. She has certain legal obligations.
She can create hell of problems for you under family law, if she wants to …. …
You both need to have a compromise and settle the things.
