Hello Friends,
I am going to Montreal, QC for some important work in January for couple of days I just would like to know if CD friends here can help me find some good indian restaurant to eat in Montreal if anyone is from the area or famililar with the area, I would greatly appreciate anyones help in this matter.

If you give the location of the place you will be staying @, one maybe able to help better. Montreal is small but not that small. 
Heres some tips:
Buffet maharaja....they have deals on weekdays/lunchtime. All you can eat. Good food, reasonably priced. On rene levesque http://english.montrealplus.ca/portal/profile.do?profileID=511468
Theres also Bombay Chaupati if you are in the mood for fast food like masala dosa . This ones close to the airport.

I am going to stay close to airport I havent booked the hotel yet still looking to get some deals if I can find any good deal on Hotels but definitely close to Airport. I really appricate your help and advise in this matter.

Cd's, Just wanted to continue about Montreal in this thread.
I am going to Montreal and Quebec city by Car on the 27th. morning. I have booked the Downtown YMCA Double bed for 2 days (27th and 28th night).
The rate is $75 + taxes per day ( Double bed and Private bath). Looks to be a good deal. I did not check if parking would be free not not. All the other hotels were atleast $100 +.
I am looking for guidance from Senior Montreal Guru's about places to see and cheap food joints to gooble lots of food for very low prices. Also a "Donot Do" list to French men would be appriciated.
Also could people gudie me as to what to see in Quebec City? I did see the internet but a Desi's view of the city and places to see would be highly appriciated. Also People have told me to see Quebec city by Car since many donot know English (can be compared to how i suffered in A'bad without knowing Hindi/Gujarathi).

Others from the board have asked me this question and I mostly come up blank. The reason being that since I live here I've never had the need to check out hotel prices. If you are coming in Jan...its not really busy compared to summer and you should be able to find good deals. Theres a Holiday Inn close to the freeway(note: NOT the one close to the airport...there is another one in Pointe Claire 10 mts away from the first one), that will give you convenient access to downtown as well as other areas.
If you are coming in on business with clients downtown...you may want to consider hotels downtown instead of ones close to the airport. This, inorder to avoid traffic from the airport to downtown which can be a real pain during rush hour. On weekends..its only a 20 minute drive to the airport from downtown.

The Buffet Maharaja mentioned above has good food at reasonable prices if you go in on weekday lunchtime. 7-8$...all you can eat. Their choice is huge. Their veg section, though smaller than nonveg section, have about 10 dishes.
Try not to eat any of the staff while you are on your gobble streak
.Like elsewhere most restauraunts in Montreal put their menu cards outside. So you can check the prices. A general rule of thumb is that if the place allows you to bring your own wine bottle (BYOW) in, its going to be less pricey than ones which do not allow you to bring in your own wine. The price has no bearing on the quality of food.
Theres something called the table d'hote(meal of the day) which you will find in most places at mealtime. Its usually a 3 course meal and is cheaper than individual items. So you get to choose between
1) Soup OR Salad
2) The main meal(which usually has a choice e.g chicken/beef...rice/noodles/pasta)
3) Coffee OR icecream OR drink etc.
Food is reasonably cheap. For really good chinese(cheap)...I'd recommend a hole in the wall at st.laurent and pins. Its a small place with bamboo chairs but the staples like 'general tao' is to die for.
DO NOT DO:
Do not try to gobble up Quebecors.
Stay away from politics.
If someone realises that you do not speak French...they will switch to English. There was a time(about 50 yrs ago) when you would be refused to be served if you spoke french and quebecors have not forgotten that. So just dont carry a big maple leaf and act snobbish.
All in all people here are VERY friendly compared to Toronto(imo).
Do try the quebec speciality called poutine(an unhealthy mix of fries, hot gravy and curds) found at any resto(and cheap too). Its yummy

Thanks for the tips.
I assume that Tim Horoton's, KFC, MacDonals, Wendy's are present in Montreal/ Quebec. Worst come to Worst, We will use these restaurants to eat food. I am really afraid of the Menu card language. Even if the people are Bilingual we will have a hard time to read french. We will try to stick to Desi/ Sri Lankan food joints.
It would also be nice if you could list some of the places to see at a walking distance of each other so that we can park the car and see all the places in one stretch.
We also will try out Maharajah Buffet for sure.
On Wednesday/Thursday , if you could see a black, over wight desi roaming in the cold of Montreal with shorts and a jeans shirt , then it would be me.
Any idea of how far Quebec city is from Montreal and Places to see there.
