Hey All SCD,CD and FCD (go figure that out),
Have been following the CD portal for quite some time and have asked many a questions - nearly all of them have been answered.
So here is one big question :
of the 500000 South Asians in Canada :
How may are unemployed
30000
How many work as Janitors, Delivery people, drivers etc
100000
How many are in Blue collar jobs
350000
How may in White collar jobs
10000
How many totaly sucessfull
10000 (Many of them made money after coming from small village in Canada in construction/oil industry doing everything by their hand)
How many unscucessfull?
200000 - Gone back or moved to US or other countries
Most of the people post negative thoughts - bad place, racial discrimination, no jobs, bad weather, poverty etc etc.
Is anything is untrue (Yes, but no point in looking at -ves & look for +ves, but people who want to immigrate must be told about -ves too. Positives usually they already know before applying)
So how much is a flight to India? Are they ashamed to come back and face the world - or is it just ego.
Not ashamed, but after doingthose blue collar job, it is not easy in India too.
Did you try hard enough to succeed?
Most of them had tried hard and many of them had earned money also but not in their field or what they had wanted to do.
I spent a good part of my life in Middle East - and faced racial and religious discrimination, was both highly sucessfull and unsucessfull (in stages of life) .
I believe that I will make it in Canada - no one can stop it.
Good luck. Everybody think the same way but here system teach everybody here how to live here. When I came here I was also thinking the same way but as soon as I started meeting people here, people usually give me advice to work as security guard. I say what, can I not get something related to my field even at much lower position. I said no to all of them and tried hard and forget about interview calls, I didn't even got any reply except one interview which I got on my second day of arrival and too in my field, but they told me that I am very good but over qualified. (Probably nobody was even half qualified as me, who were taking interview). Ultimately, I got lesson after applying to almost 500 places (people will say I may not have applied in good way or my resume, blah...blah.... this is true with many-many people, I know them personally. All these on arrival in new country will frustate anybody.
Balaji will help.
All we need is the moral support of people who already are there.
Good Luck.
Dear Shubi13,
The point is that you are right. And so are all others, who have posted above.
Despite being at two extremes, both conditions can and do co-exist.
In olden days some people flourished even in a jungle, while others were eaten up alive. Many many others just eked a living, digging hard for tubers in the day and climbing one tree after other just for surviving one night.
You are right, the best way out from this couldron is from the top. And that is available to you, just for asking*, and hard work, when God is the giver.
What you are talking is at a different level of conceptualisation.*
At that level, the unbeatable triple combination is:
a. Regular visualisation of what you want to happen
b. Belief that it is going to happen
c. Expectancy that it is going to happen soon
Ofcourse this has to be supported by smart & hard work and lots of prayers.
Best of luck. You are going to make it.
*Controversial statements.

I want to explain this point from an Indian perspective. That too from a practical example from Tamil Nadu.
HHChedaji please excuse me for this and do not ask me what is the relation between the thread and my response.
I'm going to use crude language and people who are offended please excuse:
When people die their bodies disposed off in many ways. Typically Christians, Islamic and some people bury the dead. Parsis and others throw the body for the vultures to feed on, while Hindus either burn their dead or throw them into holy rivers and the body gets eaten by fish.
In Tamil Nadu, Hindus burn their bodies. Now a days electric crematoriums are used and in earlier dies a wooden pyre used to made with some sandal wood. When women died before heir husband died, they used to be decorated with their favorite marriage kanchipuram saree, and many of their golden jewels adorned. The body used to be kept on the wooden pyre, and top of the body covered with wood, and the whole thing was sealed off with cows shit made into a paste. The body would be lighted, and there will be two holes near the face for the heat and smoke to escape.
The undertaker at the ghat, used to be so good, that he would pull out the saree and also remove the gold through the holes, with out touching the body, and he will sell it off. The next morning when the family reached there the ash and the bones would be handed over.
The real trick was to manouvre and remove the saree and also the gold, which the undertaker was good at.
The Canadian tax system is like this undertaker. It has ways and means to take the last cent out of you, and just leave with enough to survive and breath. Thank God for not taxing the air we breath.
Thanks for reading!

Two rules of life:
1. Life is tough.
2. Go to rule number 1 and re-read it till the time you accept it.
I have already mentioned this. And I again repeat this ...
"My life sucks. I hate my job." - Repeat this 10 times.
How do you feel now ? Do you feel like improving your situation ?
"My life is great. I love my job." - Repeat this 10 times.
How do you feel now ? Do you feel like improving your situation ?
