Hi Guys,

Looking at the previous posts, most of us are talking about cars. None of us have put enough light on the two-wheelers. Im an avid two-wheeler and would like to know whats others think of owning a motorcycle (good heavy-weight cruisers... like Harleys, Hondas, Yamahas, Triumphs..etc) and riding it on weekends as well as everyday to work.

Is it the best way to beat the traffic?

Is it risky and dangerous?

Ive never tried in winters though.... How is it ridin' in winter, when it snows?

Serious bikers are very less in my part of the world (Gulf), other than the regular delivery boys. Is it the same in Toronto or elsewhere in Canada?

Share your views.

Cheers

Bikes in general are much more stable and suitable for higher speeds than bikes in India. Traffic wise, whether you save time or not will depend on your drive style.. you sure will save money on gas.

If there is no snow on the road, you can ride in winter too - as long as you dress up properly. But with even with little snow on the road, not a good idea to ride.

Thanks viggy.

But is it too risky to ride a motorcycle there? Do they also consider (like in Middle-East) bikers pests?

Do you think it makes sense to import my motorcycle there?

Peace

When there is snow on the road, yes.. else, it is the same risk as riding anywhere else.

Who they? Not sure I understand the question. Never been in middle east, so can't compare...

Depending on ur bike value... You do get to buy good bikes here... Might want to check with MTO on specifications etc.

Hi Protrax

welcome to the club. i'm riding a bike for last couple of years. i ride sports bike. so yes riding a bike is fun (4 wheel moves your body and 2 wheels move your soul)

Is it the best way to beat the traffic?
--No, bcoz traffic filtering is not legal in Canada. so bike will be treated just as any other vehicle on road. but you can change lanes faster than car but then you can be chanrged under "Racing Law" so it won't make big difference.

Is it risky and dangerous?
--Everyone has different opinion about this. if you can control your right hand and top floor of yours it will be fun to ride.

Ive never tried in winters though.... How is it ridin' in winter, when it snows?
--Riding season is from April to October (May be november if you are hardcore) in Ontario or east end. because winters are brutal (low temperature with snow and salt) and tire compound are hard there is no way you can ride your bike during winters. but if you are in west end than it's different story.

there are bunch of rider groups you can join if you want to enjoy the riding or explore the nature' beauty. but keep in mind that riding season is only about 6-7 months.

about importing your bike, not sure what kind of bike you have but you can get nice cruiser bikes real cheap during off season. if your bike is over 15 yrs old then there shouldn't be much problem to import it but if not be ready to do loooots of paper work. (trust me it's not worth it, unless you really love your bike)

let me know if you need any more info. hoep to c u on road sometime soon.

Thanks Inderpal for your valuable inputs.

Im currently riding a Honda Shadow (American Classic Edition). Its about 3 years old. Customised it like, changed the end-pipes, put sadddle bags and stuff. Its quite close to my heart, so thought abt exportin' it from the Gulf. But then, correct me if I'm wrong, being a motherland of Harleys and Indians, its easy to find a nice bargain there, isnt it?

What motorcycle do you ride mate? Once Im there, after gettin my licence, we shud surely catch up and go trippin'

Cheers
