Don't they teach in driving school that left lane on the highway, esp. the busiest highway in North America (401) is for passing?
The left most lane in the passage between Hwy#400 exit and Leslie St. exit is the slowest moving lane compared to mid and right. The middle lane is occupied by trucks. That makes passing a trucks almost impossible.
Today, there was a lady driving a car in left lane at a speed of while chatting with her friend, seemingly oblivious to the traffic flow around her and clogging the entire left lane. Doesn't OPP penalise slow drivers?
Even on the Hurontario St stretch between Steeles and 401, the legal limit is 80 km/hr, but I have seen passengers driving at 60 km/hr and obstructing the car behind them.
Following the allowable speed limit is not dangerous. Excess speed or blocking the traffic is more dangerous

How many CD drivers find this irritating?
I have seen people doing this all the time, especially on Southbound DVP near Yorkmills ramp. There is a merging lane for cars entering from York Mills. So you are supposed to allow entering cars to merge with the traffic.
But given the perennial gridlock on DVP, some unscrupulous drivers try to take advantage of other driver's hospitality. They will move into the merging lane and drive right until the lane end to give an impression that they have entered the ramp.
I normally keep a watch on such drivers and do not allow them to come in front of my car. If every other driver has the patience of driving with the traffic, you do not get an exception.
People also do this on northbound 427 lanes near westbound 409 ramp, Northbound DVP near Lawrence, southbound 410 after Steeles and on southbound Allen Road to Eglinton east ramps
Driving is an ART. And your survival depends upon the skills that you have acquired in driving here in this country under all of the conditions that you have experienced and the situations that you are in from time to time. These conditions that you are posting here are so common, one will try and avoid them at all costs. They cause aggravation and are too stressful. They may also lead to anger and frustrations. It might cause ulcers and heart burns too.
This is the cause of the most of the Road Rages and I know of a few instances where some drivers have been eliminated with fire arms.
What saves you some time is the inborn ability in analyzing the situation and overcoming it rather than succumbing to it. That saves you a situation and your life and takes you home to those that depend upon you and your skills. Life is too precious. Try and develop the extra something that will make you a better driver and that skilfull individual.
You are a man with a lot of patience.
With this knowledge and patience you will Live a lot Longer.
Freddie.
The last bumper sticker that I saw was on a Michigan License Plate- was-.
" Step on it brother. Hell ain't half full yet"
I find it strange how even reasonable, calm folks become demons when they get behind the wheel. You see it everyday. Meghal's example is so true. You are standing patiently, and you see these people get on the side and whiz by. Good for you, not letting them.
But you should be careful of how people may respnd, as Freddie says. It astonds me when I see snow o the ground and people driving as though it were summer(not that people should drive recklessly over summer), spraying folks and vehicles alike.
And if you are going carefully as per conditions, these people tailgate, honk and show their fingers...
Another one is in school zones...they are endangering little children....
I think cops should be monitoring such driving more, and waiting in sped traps to collect revenue through issuing tickets less....

Whenever I come across a vehicle driving on a fastest lane hogging the traffic, I noticed that they are most of the time one of these. This is just my personal observation.
1. A middle aged white lady
2. A chinese
3. Old couple.
I am not sure what is with them but certainly 90% of the time, they are one of these.
gktaurus
The number 1 left lane hogging in my opinion is done by a rich white 20 / 30 something driving a huge SUV, talking on the fone while fixing her mascara....
Thoe are the ones i absolutely wanna just KILL!!!!
The oldie goldies, i dont mind them because they try their best and you gotta give them some concession for their age
Going back to the original comment though, You are very right... Cops sometimes do this kind of thing themselves so how can we expect anything else. Jahan traffic mein phase, wahan siren on ker ke bhag letein hain...!!!!!
Anyway, like freddie says...take it easy and do what you do best.

Gktaurus Ji,
I too was referring to the same. Rich white 20/30 something LADIES These ladies do hog the lane coz they are not confident driving the big SUVs, and are not paying attention to the road coz the fone and mascara take priority.
