I had a car accident where my car entered into another lane and hit by another car from the side. The road conditions were quite good but somehow there was a small patch of ice due to which even after applying the brakes it did not stop and entered into another lane.
The cop gave me a ticket of "Unsafe lane change". Can someone suggest if I have any strong point to go to the court and defend my case or it will worsen my case. The reason on the ticket does not look satisfactory.
Should I pay the ticket or go to the court.
Please suggest
Thanks
It never hurts to go to court..........except time involved...u can not worsen it.
if u have points, it is worth the time to go to court...if it is only $ then u can probably pay it and forget it.
Actually I do not care about the money. My main concern is to save my points if I can. Another point which scares me what if judge makes a decision that I was not driving carefully(On slippery road).
Just wanted to confirm if there could be any other reason which can worsen my case. Is it possible that the decision could change the reason on the ticket.
If anybody has such kind of experience, suggestion will be much appreciated.
Thanks
As per my knowledge after a court dt : u can either have to pay amt of ticket and have points or waive points n pay charge or reduce $ and waive points.
Never heard going up..........
If the cop does not appear..u even do not have to explain your side........n all is waived....
As far as I know, currently accidents due to weather conditions are considered no ones fault....
Thanks Aashu for your suggestion.
I would like if anybody else can also give sugestion based on his/her experience.
Thanks
This is for Aashu,
Can you read my another thread on Speeding Ticket & suggest?
Thanks
It is not the money ....I made a mistake by paying a $40 ticket without points thinking that its a small amount But don't forget the insurance.. The moment they see a ticket no matter how small the offense is they will shoot your rates high...And mine was not even an offense..the ticket itself said that I was driving at 70 on 60 speed limit. I just did not want to go thru the hassles of court etc..But Insurance got me...Contest it no matter points or not or how small the amount is.
