i just passed the interview for family class..what next?

hi,last month on 6th feb i have passed the interview for spouse categary.after that i recived a call from canadian high commission that now file has been transfered to third party for past check and they dont know how much time it will take for this processing.now if anyone knows about this process please let me know 1.what it means third party 2.how much time they will take 3.its already 8 months i have been submit my file and why they are doing past check as my interview has been already cleared...please help if u can?thank you

They might have given the job to an outside party that does the investigation and reporting work.
Normally it should have been completed by now. But people do move from place to place and I have no knowledge of the moves you have gone through and so I cannot comment.
Since the lapse has been eight months and since you have no problems or complications in life, that is why I said that it should be there soon.
These are all the formalities and they do take time and since you did pass the interview and all of the requirements, I know you have already packed and set to go. I also see your presence on the board, all day and all night, you must be eager to get a response from someone on this board.
There are other threads with spousal applications and please see the postings there too. They also are in the same boat as you are in. It might be of solace to you.
Please be patient for a little longer and you will hear from them very soon.

thank u buddy for ur reply n incourgement....well i was workin in middle east,do u think thats why they need to do my pastcheck by third party or u think m a special case?if they r doing dis coz of my outside jobs than does it means they r going to do here in india too coz as i have been submitted my PCC as well along wid my apllication..
i recived a call from canadian high commission on 5th march n i ask dem how much time it vl take?they answered me dat dey r not sure coz dey r not handling dis now,its into the hands of thirdparty...n i was surprised bcoz it was not the answer dey shud give to the clint...
m really feeling afraid now coz dont know how many months they vl take....

Im in Toronto and sponsored my wife in Dec 2008. My wife appeared for interview on 9 March 2009. But they have not given any positive response.
Her interview was hard. Lot of questions were asked..
In final visa officer said I will review ur case again and we will contact you by mail..
They returned the passport.
What will be next now... Pls advice.....

i don wana disappoint u but i guess dis is not a gud sign...returning of passport i mean..but can u tell me wat reason dey gv to ur wife dat why dey r not satisfied wid her interview?
as i was passed dere interview n now passport is wid dem only...they told me dat i vl recived my PP widin 3 weeks.its going to b more den one onth now but dere is no information ...i dont know how dey guys worked coz after dat i recived a call from dem dat dey r doing my passed check now...
i think u shud mail dem and ask dem d reason but first wait 4 few weeks..

Actually visa officer told my wife that file will be reviewed and they will contact by mail....
But visa officer also told her that she will ask for passport later on.....
Mostly visa officer said she is not convinced with this or that....
I believe they will check background checks to check the genuineness of marriage....
Anyway, is there any action I should take from here in Canada like MP letter, Email to New Delhi or CAIPS notes.....
Pls guide....

First you should have the file number. You also must have the name and address of the spouse, with telephone number and all the copies of the correspondence you have up to now.
With all of these papers, (Make copies for yourself) you go to the MP in your area. Also talk to some one in the Gurudwara and see what they can do to help you. If the MP gives you a good recommendation and contacts the Immigration directly, then it will be solved soon.
It seems that you might be encountering a little difficulty.
