Hi,
Last time I had filed with HR Block and they had used a form called CALCULATION OF CUMULATIVE NET INVESTMENT LOSS (CNIL) for my return.
See link
http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/tf/t936/t936-08e.pdf
This time, I was planning to file a paper return. How come the CNIL form is not included with the paper return?
Is it one of the hidden things from the general public?
Thanks
No, it's not hidden from public. I am sure you can download the form from the link you posted and attach it to your return. I do it every year. This form does not come as part of the tax guide/form booklet CRA normally mails out.

Does anybody know why it is not part of the tax guide/form booklet that CRA normally posts?
Otherwise, how will other individuals [in the country] find out. In this case, the poster found it when comparing his old return filed with HR block v/s the CRA booklets.
CNIL is usually not important. Generally speaking, it only reports cumulative investment loss. The number is used to \"grind down\" the application of what is known as the \"Capital Gains Exemption\" on the the \"Qualified Small Business Corporation\" shares - It likely is not applicable to you.
One piece of advice - it is appreciable that you're preparing your taxes by yourself. However, if you visit a professional, chances are that :
1) you will get it done error-proof as it is done using a software,
2) you will get it done a lot quicker without the aggravations,
3) you will know about and utilize some of the tax deductions and credits that you may not know yourself,
4) you will maximize your refund.
Thanks & hope that helps.
Cheers,

how much do you charge?
My Tax Consultant charges me $20 and does not charge for the Spouse return if the Income is Nil for the Spouse.
Hi,
I have 2 questions to ask regarding the tax return:
1) their are 2 copies of each form eg T1 General. Presumably, the other 2nd sheet is for our personal records?
2) Why do they have Federal and Provincial worksheets?
Still trying to understand that?
Thanks for clarifying.
