T,
More information is needed to answer your queries.
Let me give you some information in general.
KW area is hard hit by the recession wrt Automobile jobs. This means that 1/2 of the city is being affected. The other half is held by technology jobs. waterloo is one of the few areas in Canada where Tech. job hiring is going on in full swing. The 2 universities and 1 community college also pumps up the economy. Farms lands can be seen with just 5 mins drive from any place here.
crime rate is low or nil (except at downtown kitchener where it is still low) Hose prices are low when compared to Mississauga. (you can get a good semi detached second hand for 200K or less).
If you are thinking of relocating, I would advise you to find a house in Cambridge. Cambridge is right on the 401 and it is just 40 mins drive to mississauga. Waterloo is a good 20 mins from cambridge. It is an accepted practice to live in Cambridge and work in the west part of the GTA.
cost of living is quite high when compared to Mississauga. The only reduction in prices are house rents / house prices. Since it is town mostly formed by people in the university /technology / Automobile sector, every price is boosted up and not affordable from people in other professions.
Desi's are very few and there is a possibilty that you will not see a desi working in your office unless you are into technology / university sector. This is also a town where I have seen many Desi and Gora's (mixed marriage) as a couple.
Petrol (gas) is cheaper by 8-10 % than in Mississauga at all times. It is also very hard to find free things (that one is so used in the GTA) as well as there are very limited programs (job search, fairs, employement work shops etc...). there is also a sudanese area which you may want to avoid.
Hope this helps.
Peace by TK

I agree with TK except for the following -
Quote:While it is true that on map Cambridge is only about 40 mins from Mississauga, during commute times that is not the case, esp. during the afternoon commute.

Waterloo is a small town but booming in IT. I live in Mississauga but drive to waterloo every day. Cause of the universities there is life in this town, But when they shut down its dead. not much to do here. The drive isnt bad as i travel against the traffic. so its always smooth.
apart from that, gas is cheaper by 2-3 cents on most days.
i know lots of people who are moving into these towns. however before you invest in property, rent for some time to see if living here suits your lifestyle.
