I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
I had an interesting discussion the other day at work with my colleagues(whites, blacks, chinese, indians etc). They all complained bitterly about telemarketing calls. Calls from banks about mortgages, credit cards etc, calls from long distance phone companies some times in the middle of the night, majority of them with a desi accent.
Imagine getting 10 ~ 20 calls every day. They told me that they use this scolding tactic so they will not be called!!!. Registering with no registry was of no use.
Unfortunately you became the victim of their frustration. I would just ignore the comments as the person on the other side definitely do not know me.

My first job in Canada was at a call centre at Lawrence and Allen. At first, it was hard to take insults and I was lucky that my team leader used to ask us to hand the phone to him when someone ws abusive. However, as time passed, I learnt that if you can't get back at them anyother way, laugh!! ...that pisses them off totally and you cannot be accused of rudeness. I would have told the guy,' Well Sir, I am glad that you have given me the opportunity to talk to a racist...I'd only heard about them till now!'
Once, a guy said, You damn Indians sitting in Bombay...and when I told him I was calling from Toronto, he said,'Aw, don't give me that bull****! What do I look like to you, ...an idiot??' So I told him very sweetly," Well, I wouldn't be able to tell, since I can't see you over the phone.' He banged the receiver down on me probably not knowing what to say!! =D
Don't give him a thought..people like him are not worth it!
Cheers!!
