I am Canadian citizen,, few years ago I bought some agriculture land in Punjab,
I didn't know about the govt law that the Canadian Citizens or foreiners can't buy the agriculture land that time.. Can you please tell me what can happen ? and what can I do to save my land ?.. thanks
Dude, It will be hard for the Govt. of India to find out and pursue the case.
However, I would suggest you to either sell of the land or hold the land as a 'benami'. Bemani means that you will hold the land unofficially but the land will be in the name of an Indian citizen, like your brother, father etc..
Hope it helps.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Solve this agri-land question the way I did! I had agricultural land worth over 5 crores (I know it was huge). I asked my brothers to convene and debate and decide how to divide those properties amongst themselves. However, if anyone sells their share, I will impound every rupee they from the sale. They can also make arrangements amongst themselves such that one buys land from other. It is free for them ONLY if they keep the land within the family and actually work it. Agriculture is very profitable and essential for India, so them folks in agri-industry should only be proud.
You can also apply a similar solution to your land issue! Good luck.

inheritance is one thing, buying new agriculture land is not allowed for foreign citizens
( that includes NRI's who became citizens of countries like US, Canada etc)
However, our systems weakness and corruption which we so often blame will come to the help of FOREIGN DESI's who can buy agricultural land but the system in India cannot track
if you want to be clear and above water, then buy urban property like Flats, Urban plots etc
