Hello
I am an Architect (B.Arch), having an experience of more than 5 years. I had applied for my immigration to Canada in Nov2006 , being unmarried at that time.
I got married on 7-11-2007 and thereafter i got my file updated with the my husband's qualifications and experience. He has done P.G. in Garment manufacturing Technology from NIFT, Mumbai after his B.B.A and is having an experience of 7 years till date in the field of garments exports. We received a letter from the embassy (dated 13-11-2008) asking if we are still interested to go to Canada. If not then we should inform them within a span of 3 months so that we can get our money refunded. If we will not reply within this time they will take it for granted that we are still interested and our money will not be refunded thereafter.
We have not received any response since then. Please help us know explicitly about this letter. Does this mean that they will start processing the file?
Please help us know the best.
Regards
This is because Canada changed the immigration rules in the independent category after your application.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp
If your chosen profession does not fall under the occupation list, then your application will be put on the back burner and preference given to those who apply under the ïn-demand"occupations.
Since, architecture does not fall under these categories, neither does your husband's profession, they are asking you if you still want to proceed with the application.
From 27th Feb 2008 onwards they have changed the rules. Only 38 Occupations will be entertained and will be processed within 12 months. However, since your application is falling prior to 27th Feb 2008, you are still eligible if your score is 67 and above. Only thing is that you may have to wait a longer time as compared to 12 Months fast track. Therefore, need not worry. What is your score? applied through agent or independently? You should write to them that you are keen on immigration and that they should continue to process your application if you are confident of getting 67 marks. Or if you withdraw now you will never make it to Canada as your profession is not in the 38 Occupations list. If you need any further clarifications please free to write.
Best regards,
