I applied for Immigration from Singapore in 1999 as a skilled immigrant class.I am living in India.Professionally I am an Electrical engineer.Feb 04, I got a letter advised me to pick up the permanant visa from Canadian embassy Singapore within 90-days of the letter ,I went to the Singapore embassy in India asking Visa and unfortunately the Consulate General sent back my invitation letter back to Singapore Immigration for the verification and till todate nothing has been done sofar.I am afraid that my 90 days would be exhausted due to unnecessary enquiry and verification.Do somebody advised me what should I do.I have been waiting for this time for the last 4-years.The Singapore embassy do not give me the visa till they got the verification from Singapore immigration .I had already written to the Canadian embassy Singapore but could not get any reply till todate. What worst would I face ,if I could not pick up my visa within 90-days.Do my Visa cancelled and do I have to apply again and pay the processing fees again. Please advise
A worried Immigrant
I don't know about the exactly rules of Singapore Canadian embasy but I don't think you need to worry about it. In my case, I applied for immigration in London since I was then living in London but after having my medicals done I had to leave UK to India. I contacted the embasy and they told me to give me the contact address in India. While I was in India I got a letter from the Canadian Embasy in UK asking me to send the original passports by post - which I did from India. In about a months time I got the stamped passports plus the landing document back.
So, I would say don't worry. Call up the Singapore embasy and tell them you're not living in S'pore anymore and is it OK if you can mail your passport to them - at least you can save on the flight to S'pore and back. Best of luck.
