Hello Fellows. Just was wondering that if i give a gift worth of 10K CAD to my brother back in India - would i be able to claim that during next year when i file my taxes ?

He is getting married and this will also be a way for me to help him by providing him with some monetary assistance however i was wondering is this something that can help me get better tax return ? If so, what kind of documentation would be required to prove that this was a gift given by my to my brother on the ocassion of his wedding.

I know, if you can prove it as a donation to some registered charity, then you can claim on your taxes.
