There's a candy outlet in Scarborough on Birchmount, N of Lawrence. They do have good chocolates.

For perfumes try the warehouses in Brampton. You get good stuff there.

list goes on and on. Come on now..you are going there for first time..you can at least do this much (after buying those for yourself ;)

Now, that's an incentive to move back to India. We can keep hoping (maybe in vain) someone will get us all these goodies.

One other idea: Go to Chapters in the gift section, they usually have a sale or clearance area. They have neat little things that are small, inexpensive and usually whimsical. Funny eyeglasses holders for example.

These may not seem very valuable, but they are 'different' :)

I second the Winners idea..they have very economical gifts. Also try homesense.Cooks may appreciate pretty or unusual crivats (hot pad..not sure if I spelled that right).

I second crisraj suggestion ... it is both a souvenir and an item unavailable in India ..... Other wise browse China Town and buy Canada flag based souvenirs in all prices ...

Chocolates and dry fruits are yet another favorite ....

Hey, who stole my list that I had prepared to give to Santa this Christmas;)

Jokes apart, I think most middle class Indians can afford and have access to items mentioned above.

IMO, as most of the stuff is now available in India and most of stuff available in Canada is made in China/India/Mexico, the only gifts available is mainly foodstuff. I normally look for stuff that is not available in India

- Chocolates - lots of variety to choose for
- Biscuits - sweet and salty
- My nephews like Excel chewing gum
- Dry Fruits / Spices
- Ontario wines - Most of them are $10 to $15 per bottle.
- Iranian cookies / Lebanese sweets
- Native artifacts - There are few stores near harbourfront in Toronto where you can buy such stuff.
