Hello,
We will be visiting India for the first time since we came to Canada. I need to take some small and inexpensive gifts for the quite a few relatives and friends. I don't have much of a budget for this but don't want to do all my shopping at the dolloar store either :) One thing people keep saying is that you get everything in India and so there is nothing you can take from here that is different. I was wondering what others have taken as small gifts on their trips back that have been appreciated by the persons receiving them.
Thanks,

Our last trip, we didnt do much if any shopping at the Dollar store, except to buy some pretty candles in unique shapes for some of our female relatives. For my hubby's aunts (who are close to the family) we gave them bonus kits that come from clinique or estee lauder or whichever makeup brand is doing a bonus.

For kids, we went across the border to buy large chocolate bars (think giant Hershey bars). You can go to zellers/walmart and get small sized books for kids.

hope that helps!

I would recommend Maple syrup (in a sealed can)!

Apart from list mentioned by MR, with festival season starting, not a bad idea to take Genuine Spanish Saffron, (lightweight and sought by most of the folks). Additionally you will find some nice perfumes (not so expensive). For kids you can take some nice UB MP3 players (around 10-20 bucks a piece)

Here is common stuff beside Dollar ( kids Items) - shoes, glass, perfume cloths

Dollar stores - gadgets, toys, and games
Winners have nice clothes or look for some discount stores
Flea market for shoes, glass and perfumes
Cashew, almond, pistas and chocolate -look around different places

6) Sony HD, HDD camcorders
7) PSP, Playstation
8) Rolex

Thank you all for your suggestions. I would not have thought of saffron or candles. Interesting. Also, any suggestions for perfumes?

Manserwadekar nice one :)
