I found that the stuff you get at Canadian Tire or likewise store can be cut with a knife and robbed.

The other option is to go for hardshell and it would definitely last for atleast the next 10 years and much difficult to rob.

The negative in the hardshell is that it adds its own weight and has no Flexibility which leads to reduced stuff in terms of weight or you cannot add stuff in the last minute.

I found that the American Tourister, Samsonite and other topnotch hardshell suitcases of 30" or 32" to be CHEAPER, newer model and also with Brighter colors, easily available in metros in India.

For example you could get a samsonite 30" hardshell for INR 8500 while the same costs around CAD 200 + 26(13%Tax)in any store. At CAD at around IR 42 + it is a cheaper deal.If you go to the outlet store in Buffalo of Samsonite you will find that the prices are similar to Canadian store prices.

Incidentally Samsonite is made in India near Pune. Hence you get a cheaper price.
