I don't agree. Success is a relative term. For a lot of people flipping burgers for $8/hr is success and for a lot of others working for $80 and hour might not sound like being successful. And for a lot of others, success is not about money at all. I personally associate success to a fulfilling career with growth prospects, being happy and being a good human being.
So it's all subjective.
