Payroll is a good "recession proof" job as almost all companies whether large or even the smaller sized ones, usually have atleast one. Although, it may not be very high paying and chances of progress are less, it will ensure a steady and stable career. Ideally one should try to gain entry into a government organization after having accumulated a few years experience on the private side.

Correct. Besides, try to get knowledge/experience in payroll module in any erp like SAP, PeopleSoft. It’s in good demand.

Another option worth considering may be 'Life Insurance' and related field. My insurer (agent) started about three years back and now enjoying a steady income. Can be explored for more details...

I would recommend either Payroll/basic bookkeeping (if she has good math aptitude AND interest). Otherwise, a good recession proof occupation is Admnistration/Office Manager/Clerical positions.

For most of these, knowledge of basic computer office softwares (MS package) and some office experience are all that is needed. Some employers want a certain typing speed (usually 60 wpm). This job can be found in any industry.

Private colleges offer short courses in MS.

what is the scope of interior designing - I know people in India are working as a interior designer or fashion designer?

Is that career easy to get jobs here?
