I don't understand how a new immigrant who doesn't have anybody to go to will give address to Landing officer. I have received two people (unknown) request as to whether, they can give my address and will I help them posting their PR to their address in UK and UAE on humanity ground. I, myself am a new immigrant and I too didn't have anybody till 2-3 days before landing and suddenly somebody out of blue called and told me he will help picking me from airport and leaving me at basement apartment and somebody whom I had helped when he was jobless in dubai has given our reference. I can understand their difficulty since I was also worried about same thing before coming here.

Should I help?

You know most of the people are coming here with their family's future in mind. For time immemorial, any body who enters Canada does not have any one to rely upon, except that there is some on in the neighborhood, who has some common courtesy that makes each other dependent and will help each other in times of need.

Currently in this Internet age, the world has shrunk. They come to know of a lot of things and one such item is the where abouts of a lot of people. They have found you. They have considered you as a friendly soul who they can rely upon. Now the question is do you want to be their support here NOW and may be in the future also. Will they reciprocate at the same time.

Now you know more about Canada and how to go about it. But they do not. Hence they are seeking the knowledge base from you. You can help better. If you do, they will always consider you as a good friend. What it is that they want from you and how much of it that you can provide as a support is between you two. Or can you find out more for them and provide on going support at a later date, because they will be there at your door again after two or three years. Will you be there for them?

These are all my observations from this board. You can tell them that there is a cost to them. Please put that money in an envelope and and mark it as for the courier charges and drop it in the mail for you, before they leave. You specify the sum. Also make sure that it is only one time help and it is at their risk.
