What is the best way to send Medical Lab Reports as attachments via email in vista.
Tried scanning but they save as bmp and it does not attach or take hell lot of time .
Any suggestions what to do?

Your scanner should have a setting to save as jpg files, and you should be able to chosoe the resolution. This will reduce the file size but will also reduce the quality. You'd have to strike a balance between reducing the quality and file size by trial and error.
As carnations mentioned,, in the end zip it to reduce the size.

It is just a suggestion that email is not a secure way to send medical reports (Which will have personal info).
If u still want to send it then password protect ur zip file.
jpg is a lossy format and will not give best quality.
TIFF appears to be best in your case, but you'll have to zip it up.
On balance, PNG may be a better trade off between file size and quality.
PNG is better than JPEG
