Hello,
I came across two types of schools in Calgary based on its curriculum viz., Regular and Traditional learning (TLC).
Can someone give me some insight on the following points:
A. What is difference in curriculum for regular and TLC?
B. Can a student coming in from Elementary / Middle school, outside of Canada, join TLC? I have two boys, 4th and 7th grader doing their schooling in Tampa, FL.
C. What are pros and cons? e.g. TLC students have better chances to get scholarship, they are admitted to undergraduate courses with college credits; just like magnet schools or Gifted child programs in US schools.
In addition to your personal experiences, any links are highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Taps
TLC are better in respect to regular program
Advantages are -
More home work & study
More Practical based projects
School Uniform ( it gives an different feeling )
Remember there are very few schools in Calgary who carries TLC program
So before deciding your rental or buying house, first check if there is any Bus Route
Do you know another program in Calgary which is better than TLC ?
Its called FFCA. & Science Program
There is big waiting for FFCA. Usually 2-3 years before your number comes.
Again very few schools for FFCA
I heard from people ( not sure its true )
As soon as baby born, first think parents do in Calgary is get him/her registered at FFCA school. So by the time baby is school going, you are way ahead than others
Something similar for Science program, but less waiting
