Dear Mr. Masood,
My apologies if I am incorrect on your name!
More than 5 years ago, 1997, I decided to jump the Canadian border to the US to complete my studies after being denied a visa to the US.
I was told by the Canadian immigration to return to Singapore, ie deported.
Instead I still decided to make a comeback and jump the border, which I eventually did. It has been more than 5 years since the incident happened. Or I am back in Singapore for more than 5 years.
Now I am filing for migration to Canada, Vancouver, BC.
In the application I have declared the this incident. as they will find out sooner or later.
The US has a grace period of 5 years so does Canada.
Question:
Do I need to file for a Pardon from the Canadian government.
Appreciate your valuable input.
Thanks.
Surendra
It baffles me that you got my name wrong.
You will need to overcome certain administrative barriers. There is no pardon for immigration infraction. The embassy will advise you further.

My aplogies again, Masood.
According to the website, if you have a previous record, then a successful pardon should pre-cede the application, else it will go into a pending state.
I will check with the embassy again and update you asap.
Thanks for your speedy reply.
Surendra
For my clients, I always do the pardon first.

Based on your reply, u said, you would do the pardon first!
On the same token, I should do my pardon too.
Appreciate your input once again.
Good luck.
