Hi,

This is a funny incident but now turning into a difficult one for me.

I gave a new pair of pants for alteration in a dry clean and repair store (run by an Afgani). The staff in the store makes mistake and instead of incresing the length of the pants, cut the pants short.

Initally the owner was apologetic and agreed to buy me a pair of the same quality ( I had bought the pants in the US for about $70), to which I agreed.

He dillydallied for 2 weeks and got me a crap quality pair. Now he says his insurance doesn't pay him more than $40. He also showed me the fine print on the receipt which says the store is not responsible for any damage to clothes given to them.

I have no clue how to deal with situation? Can anybody guide me as to my legal rights?

Thanks,

MG.

I can see following options:
:D
1) Cut yourself to the size ;)
2) Cut Tailor's pants
3) Cut Tailor to the size
4) Take away Tailor's pant.
5) Find someone of the size
6) auction it
7) Put it on garage sale
8) Give 2 lafas to Tailor and then slap yourself twice..
....just kidding

Sorry man, the amount of time and energy you will be spending will not be worth it.
but if you still want to pursue it on the name of principles and to teach arrogant tailor a lesson you can try following:

:(
I am so concerned about the pants that can't stop thinking about few more options..
09) Wear the pant as it is
10) Sit without pants (do keep under pants though)
11) Wear shirt instead
12) Tell him Pants belong to Obama (US Made). Make it clear that no Osama, otherwise being Afghani he will alter it again to make it look like sherwani.
13) Play Rock, Paper, Scissors with tailor and always choose rock so that you can break his scissors  and hope that he does not show the paper with fine print ;)
14) Next time buy longer pants.
15) Give shirt to alter to match the size of pants.
16) Do not give underpants to alter :D because it will be a problem if you choose to wear shirt instead the cropped pants.

:D Sorry man, not good to make fun of someone else's misery ....since this is light topic, hope reading these options make you smile as well..and you will encourage options from others as well. ;)
