Did anybody follow the news about Nano going up into flames while on its way from showroom to customer's house? There are two such instances.
Ratan Tata's motives to create Nano may be noble, but I wish India's infrastructure would be able to keep up with the increase in vehicular traffic.
And KumarM, I am surprised you were able to travel with such a speed as described in your post, on Indian roads.

No Sir you got it wrong..Land cruisers base models start from 84 Lacs...and goes in crores in India. No Peace! You won't get a decent corrolla for 10 lacs.

Best example of how things are relative...we complain that we pay more for cars in Canada than in US, check in Europe and India..oh well we pay more for cell phone plans anywhere in the world though...

Speed in Nano? When did I say so? That too inside the city. Traveling slow itself was a nightmare.
I am in the market for a car. Saw Maruti WagonR. Much better than 800. More sturdy. I dont need Honda city. Too expensive for our use. Tata Indigo looks ok.

Did not realize that you yourself in the market for a car in India. I can completely understand your frustration and emotions. And this time genuinly thanks for sharing the valuable experience. Had heard/seen a lot in media about nanos getting in the flames. but first hand experience gives good insights.
And yes would prefer to ride on a scooter with known risks than sitting in a vehicle that gives false sense of security!.
