Welcome to Canada Manjeet!!
You made the right choice of staying in toronto that way you have the advantage of fast public transport.
I was in the same stage a you a few months back ... now i like this city better than any other place i have lived or visited.

If you need anything, i'll be glad to help...please let me know.

Good luck!!

Samir

Hi,

I keep hearing of people having to declare their money when they arrive at Canada. In my case, I am planning of making my entry in July & will stay in Canada for 4 DAYS ONLY. I will return back to my country & should return in 1-2 years. In this case, what should I be expected to declare ????

CONFUSED ??? Please Help !!1

Well all they asked me was to declare the money which i have brought along and they dont ask for how long i am going to stay here. I assume that you will need to show them money as they have right to reject your immigration at this stage as well.

Regards

Good Luck to you Manjeet, glad to know your good/bad /mixed initial experience. Keep up the spirit....

Is renting an apartment easy ?. Do you have to go thru the brokers or thru classifieds ?

Welcome Manjeet!

I can tell one thing for sure, you've come at a great time weather-wise. Its been fabulous lately (except for the bouts of rain, but that's ok) and it will only get better. Toronto is gorgeous when it awakes from hibernation, the next few months make up for a long and cold winter.

Wish you all the best in your job search, I know that's probably top on your list right now. Good luck with the apt. hunt as well.

And please don't hesitate to let me know if there's something I can assist with.

Regards,
Anand.

Hi Manjeet,
Welcome to Canada, the land of opportunities!!
Its good to know that you have started liking here and the best part is that you have come at the very right time.
As far Finch/Islington area is concerned, thats a good area, near to 'Chaura Bazaar', Albion Cinema, Finch/Weston Gurudwara but just watch out for the surrounding communities, esp. Blacks because somehow that area is not THAT safe, lots of crime in that area. If you move little bit south of Finch or Albion, either on Islington or Kipling, that area is relatively better. But again, it depends on the kind of building and locality and you are the best judge!
I live not far from that place. I am in the south of Kipling/Albion. In case you do need any help, let me know.
Good Luck!
