Hello All,
My question is , Is it possible for an immigrant to work in US?
If i land in Canada and after completing all the formalities, ie, getting the PR card in a months time, Can i go to US on some visa immidiately and work over there??
After doing job in US, I can come back to Canada to complete that 2 year period. Since I am in IT field and have got ample jobs in US, so just wanted to ask. Please tell me if its possible?

To work in US you will need H1 visa. It will be easier to work in US after you become a Canadian citizen.

You can very much work in US but need h1b visa after landed in canada as PR. I think this is also a good approch for initial settlement. MAy be after 1-2 years u can look for jobs in canada with north ameriaca experince. But the problem is H1B. if u can get it very good then. Through i m not sure u can have winsdor-detriot working approah also. means live in canada work in US> But still u will require h1b visa to do so.

TN is miles away for someone who wants to land and go to the U.S. right away.

Sujinder, the only way for a Canadian P.R. to legally work in the U.S. is via an H-1 or L-1. Don't know much about the L-1, but the the quota for H-1s for last season has already been exhausted, now they're accepting applications for work-permits starting later this year. And its taking much longer to process this nowadays. Besides, companies there are not that interested in sponsoring people now, lot of them now only entertain greencard holders or citizens.

I think you can forget about the landing and going to the U.S. right away part. It can be done, but would need more time (unless of course you can somehow arrange for an H-1 from India itself)
