From what i remember reading the treaty, if u are falling short for pension eligibility then u can use the years in another treaty country to be eligible for pension.

For e.g lets say you work 5 years in USA and 5 years in canada and get citizenship and leave, then u can add those 5 years from canada to fulfill eligibility to receive US pension, but the pension paid by US will only be for 5 years of service, the remaining 5 years u need to collect from CPP

But do you have to be a canadian citizen to be eligible for the benefits? If I'm an Indian Citizen will I be eligible for the Benefits?

Hello All,

(1)I'm an Indian Citizen and a Canadian PR working in the US on H1B visa for an american company hired in the US for the past 5 years. Now, If I decide to move to canada, will all the Social Security Benefits in the US be transferred over to canada or I will loose all the SSN money I had paid so far?

(2) Say I have paid for SSN in the US for 5 years. If I contribute for 3 more years in SIN canada and return back to India for good, will I get all my SIN benefits after retirement eventhough I'm a citizen of india and residing in india/can I encash my SIN benefits(money I have contributed for 8 years) when I return back to India?

(3) How many years do we need to contribute in SIN in order to get the benefits after retirement?

(4) What is the retirement age at which I will start receiving the SIN benefits?

Thanks

It has been only 2 .5 years since I received the canadian PR. So if I come to canada by year end I can retain the PR

Yes you have to citizen or canada or a citizen of a treaty country with reciprocal plans. Since india is not one of those country u will not be eligible for benefits..

Does this mean even if I pay SSN and SIN for 10 years I won't be eligible for the benefits?
