Hello Everyone,

I have queries regarding my PR obligation and rentry into Canada .After becoming a landed immigrant on 7th July 2007 ,I could live in Canada for 1 month and 12 days only i.e. 42 days and my PR card is expiring on July 23rd ,2012.I want to now pemanently move to Canada and planning to be there only in the first week of November 2010 which means I'll fall short of around 75 days to complete my 2 years of stay in Canada .Could somone answer the following for me ,

1) Will immigration authorities allow me to enter Canada in November as I would still have a valid PR card?

2) If yes, then what sort of problems I might face in renewing my PR card or if they would at all renew my PR card in 2012?

Thanks

You certainly do know that you are falling short in the requirements to comply with. You also know the EXTRA number of days it requires to meet with it too.

Have a very good reason for this lapse. If there is any one near and dear in the family has passed away during your stay there in India, document the same prior to your departure and bring it along with you. (Carry it in person). It does not have to be any one specific. It could be a long lost relative also.

If at the landing they start questioning you, just produce it and say that the person who passed away was very much attached to you and hence it took Three Years to get over it. This is to establish a plea on Humanitarian Grounds.

They will let you into Canada and they will tell you that there will be a letter coming to you asking you why you should not be deported out of Canada. You will have to retain a Lawyer or through the FREE Legal system that is available here to you and seek their help. ALSO; Being a New Immigrant, go to the nearest Immigrant Help center, in the town, where ever you land, and seek their help in resolving this. They will have information on this subject matter, more than that we know here on this Canadian Desi Website.

DO NOT LOOSE THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION. So, have copies on hand.

Freddie.

Thanks Frediee for your quick reply ..really appreciate it .Could you please advise if I can give any other reason as well ,as arranging a death certificate of a relative could be a problem with me ,though I would still try .

Also,if you could tell me or if you know from the experience of any of your friends ,will I have to give the same explanation at the time of renewal of PR card in 2012!

Thanks

You can surely figure a GOOD ONE out for yourself and see if it will help you at the time you land here. If it does not please let me know here. But you can stay here till it all gets resolved.

No, none of my friends have gone that route. So, you are the first one to try it.

What I have given you as a tip is for the PR Status and also for the renewal as it depends upon your stay here in Canada. If you cannot be a PR in Canada, then the question of renewal does not arise. I think you also know that. So, why ask??!!

Freddie.
